Education is the main factor for the establishment of people who are the whole of sustainable societies. This is the cause that most influences the progress and advancement of individuals, because, in addition to providing knowledge, it assists in the construction of everything that characterizes the human being. Since the importance of education is evident, it is necessary to question what is taught to individuals in addition to the methods used to transmit such knowledge, and who better to question what is learned than the students themselves. Today, the managers of the educational system are in charge of stipulating academic itineraries to define what institutions should teach their students. It is worth clarifying that academic pathways in each country are supposed to be constructed based on students' learning rhythms and the needs present in a changing society.
In spite of what was mentioned above about academic pathways and how they "should" be based on the problems of a changing society, one could judge the role of society and educational administrators since in spite of the visible evolution in the aspects that build a society such as medicine, science, the automotive industry and the entertainment industry, education, which is the primary agent that makes up the community, has not advanced. Being in a changing society and being evolutionary beings, it is totally irrational that the majority of educational institutions continue to maintain pedagogical models that were used in past decades. In fact, methods used 100 years ago are still being applied today and the most outrageous thing is that even with the passing of time the traditional pedagogical model that is characterized by the marked difference that is stipulated between the student as a passive receiver of information and the teacher as its transmitter is maintained.

Because of this, young people do not have the ability to generate their own thoughts, it should be stressed that in most institutions there are 20 or 30 children per classroom with completely different needs, goals, motivations and skills who are faced with a single teacher with the same differences in thinking as them and who seeks to educate this group in an identical way so that they begin to think similarly to him, thus eliminating any characteristic of understanding and analysis in individuals. Likewise, the school suppresses the student's ability to make their own decisions, stipulating the time they have to eat, go to the bathroom, rest time and the subjects they have to deal with, thus eliminating any character of autonomy. Therefore, the school should promote autonomy, since it is dispensable for continuous learning throughout life and for understanding responsibility for one's actions in the environment.
On the other hand, the school educates young people for the past, it is striving to teach events that occurred decades ago and the same topics that parents and grandparents saw are passing through the new generations. In fact, if thousands of things happen in the world every day, why don't educational institutions deal with current issues? Why don't they seek to touch young people with current issues and problems?

Moreover, the institutes do not have as their main objective to inform and update young people since they do not want them to generate solutions to current problems. Likewise, since the school does not emphasize topics that concern what is happening in the present, the usefulness of what is taught to confront individuals to life is questioned. Between what is learned in the classrooms and what happens outside of them there is a notable gap, many of the topics dealt with in school are not going to be used when facing the real world. When a young person graduates from school, topics such as cell parts and the classification of the predator-prey pyramid are left behind but when asked how to pay a tax, how to buy a house, how to provide first aid, how to coexist in society, they are all left behind. Many will not give an answer since they have not been educated to face this type of situations and needs.
Finally, the school encourages competitiveness among students and does not recognize the importance of differences, since from a young age children see how the most skilled in math, science, social studies and languages are recognized for their work, and these are the ones who receive the highest grades and those who have abilities in the arts or in sports are left aside. Instead of generating competition, the school should promote collaboration between people and the empowerment of the individual and exemplary citizen, thus educating people who think creatively and have the ability to innovate, criticize and most importantly have the ability to respect differences.
